A homegrown service for Lochaber’s unpaid carers.

Lochaber’s unpaid carers provide essential support to partners, family members, friends or neighbours who have an illness, disability, mental health condition, drug or alcohol use or frailty. They are integral to community living. Their dedication is inspiring, and while the role can be demanding, Care to Connect is here to help prevent burnout by offering a space for rest, reflection, and support.

Our dedicated drop-in space at An Drochaid in Claggan offers a warm and inclusive environment for unpaid carers. The facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable lounge, training and office areas, and an outdoor space where we’re developing a wellbeing garden for participants to enjoy.

In addition to our on-site support, we also provide outreach services across Lochaber, ensuring carers in more remote areas can access the same opportunities for connection, advice, and wellbeing.

Care to Connect is Lochaber’s dedicated support project for unpaid carers. Located in the heart of the community, it offers a welcoming space where carers can take a break, access face-to-face support, and connect with others. Whether you're seeking advice, a listening ear, or simply a quiet moment with a cup of tea or coffee, Care to Connect is here for you.

We aim to ease pressures on unpaid carers by strengthening community bonds, promoting social interaction and offering peer-to-peer support through our dedicated project coordinator and team of volunteers.
